Snowfall is looking more likely across the region, especially in Southwest Virginia and Eastern Kentucky. While this is not a major snow event, some areas will see light accumulations by Saturday morning.

Snow Totals:

• Southwest Virginia: 1–2 inches likely in a narrow swath, with localized 3-inch totals possible near High Knob and Black Mountain

• Tri-Cities: A trace to 1 inch, with the higher amounts closer to the VA border

• Southwestern areas towards Greeneville: Less than ½ inch of snow is likely.

Timing:

• Precipitation moves in after 10 PM

• SW VA & Eastern KY: Rain/snow mix quickly changing to snow

• Tri-Cities: Starts as rain after midnight, changing to snow after 2 AM

• Snow tapers off after 8 AM Saturday

Impacts:

Brief travel impacts possible Saturday morning especially in Southwest Virginia and Eastern Kentucky.

With highs in the low to mid-40s, any snow that falls will melt quickly after sunrise.

This system remains quick-hitting with limited impacts, but we’ll continue monitoring for any forecast changes. We will also have road condition updates throughout Saturday morning.
