The threat for severe weather overnight into Monday morning has increased. Most of the region, including the Tri-Cities, is now under a Level 2/5 (Slight Risk) for severe thunderstorms tonight.

The main concerns will be damaging winds and a few isolated tornadoes as a line of storms moves across the region.

SPC Outlook:

The Storm Prediction Center upgraded much of our area to a Level 2/5 risk for severe storms overnight into early Monday.

Primary threats include:

• Damaging wind gusts, some possibly over 70 MPH

• Isolated tornadoes

Timing

A line of storms will move west to east across the region overnight into Monday morning.

• KY Counties: 2–3 AM arrival

• Western Areas: 2–5 AM

• Central Areas (including Tri-Cities): 4–8 AM

• Eastern Areas: 6–11 AM

⚠️ Threats & Areas of Greatest Concern

The main threat is damaging winds, but a brief tornado or two cannot be ruled out.

• Storms will likely enter the region strong to severe

• They may weaken slightly near the Tri-Cities, but severe storms are still possible

• Storms could strengthen again as they move east and the sun rises

We have highlighted two areas of greatest concern where the highest damaging wind and tornado risk may occur, but the entire region has an elevated severe weather risk tonight.

Prepare Now:

Since this threat occurs while many people are asleep, it’s important to be ready:

✔️ Have multiple ways to receive weather watches and warnings overnight

✔️ Plan for possible strong storms during the Monday morning commute

✔️ Know the difference between a Watch vs. Warning

• Watch: Conditions are favorable for severe weather

• Warning: Severe weather is occurring or imminent

If a Tornado Warning or higher-end Severe Thunderstorm Warning is issued for your location:

• Move to the lowest level of your home

• Stay away from windows

• Go to an interior room

Cars and mobile homes are not safe places during high end severe thunderstorms or tornadoes.

Our team will be LIVE overnight and through the morning as storms move into the region to keep you updated and safe.

Stay weather aware tonight.
