*Watching a Winter weather system heading toward the region Tuesday night into Wednesday*

We are watching a Winter weather system set to make it's way towards the Central Appalachians on Tuesday night and Wednesday. Most areas will see precipitation start as rain before changing over to snow in the higher terrain, above 3,000 feet, by 12 AM Wednesday morning. Any rain falling in the valleys should start to mix with (NETN) or turn to full snow (SWVA) by 5 AM Wednesday morning. As of now, our mountain terrain of NETN/SWVA could see 1-4 inches of snow with parts of the WNC mountains seeing 2-4 inches of snow. A Winter Weather Advisory could be needed for areas above 3,000 feet. The valleys of NETN could see no snow accumulation to a half an inch, while they valleys of Southwest Virginia should see a trace to an inch. Our FirstCALL accumulation forecast is attached to this post, but note changes could be needed as new data comes in so check back for updates.
