WEATHER ALERT DAY: FinalCALL Snow and Ice Forecast

We have reached the point in the forecast where we are ready to release our FinalCALL snow and ice totals for this significant winter storm moving into the region.
TIMING:
•After Noon Saturday: Precipitation moves in as all snow
•By 3–4 PM: Most of the region seeing all snow
•Around 6 PM: Sleet begins mixing in across far southern areas, then spreads north
•After ~8 PM Saturday: Transition to freezing rain
•Sunday Morning: Changeover to plain cold rain
•Sunday Evening (after ~6 PM): Scattered snow showers return, lasting through mid-afternoon Monday
SNOW TOTALS (Combined from BOTH snow rounds)
• Tri-Cities / Most of NETN & Western NC: 1–3 inches
• Parts of Southwest VA & Eastern KY: 3–6 inches
• Far northern areas: 6–8 inches possible
FREEZING RAIN — MAIN & MOST DANGEROUS THREAT
Freezing rain will be the primary impact of this storm and poses the greatest risk.
Expected Ice Accumulation:
• Most of the region: 0.20" – 0.40", with isolated 0.50"
• Western North Carolina: 0.40" – 0.75"
• East Tennessee foothills: 0.10" – 0.25" due to downsloping winds
These ice amounts could lead to very hazardous travel, scattered power outages, and downed tree limbs
