We are going to continue our Weather ALERT Day through the weekend due to the potential of snow and ice continuing to create hazardous travel. Thursday evening a clipper system will move into the area the moisture will start out as some light freezing rain with some icing possible in some areas. Up to a tenth of an inch of ice is possible in parts of the area (see map). All moisture will change to snow across the region Friday morning. Snowfall accumulations of 1-3 inches will be average with 2-4 inches across parts of SWVA and the TN/NC mountains. Areas that see freezing rain could see some power issues. Stay tuned for updates.
