** FRIDAY IS A FIRSTWARN TRI-CITIES WEATHER ALERT DAY **
Strong to severe storms look likely across the region, with an increased risk of damaging winds and a few tornadoes Friday afternoon and evening.
A warm front will move north across the area Thursday night through early Friday morning, bringing unstable air into the region. A cold front will approach from the west early Friday afternoon and increase the risk of thunderstorm activity. Strong to severe storms look likely along the front, where a line of storms will develop. This "squall line" could produce damaging straight-line winds up to 70 MPH and a few spin-up tornadoes. IF any cells form out ahead of the line, those could also pose a severe weather risk, and all modes of severe weather would be possible, including damaging winds, large hail, and a few tornadoes. The main time for this activity is from 12 PM - 6 PM. The timing is subject to change, so check back for updates. When severe weather starts to move in FirstWARN Tri-Cities will provide live "wall-to-wall" coverage on our social media platforms and our website.
