Weather ALERT Day Update

***Friday is a FirstWARN Tri-Cities Weather ALERT Day***

Arctic air will rush into the region Thursday night into Friday. Let’s talk about the impacts below!

Temperatures: Very frigid temperatures will move in the region with a strong cold front. Temperatures drop quickly from the 40’s to the teens early Friday morning. We will stay below freezing until Atleast Monday

Windchills: Wind Chill values will drop below 0 on Friday and Saturday Morning. Wind Chills could drop as low as -10 in the valleys and -15 or lower in the mountains. If you aren’t prepared this is very dangerous temperatures. Wind Chill alerts will most likely be need to be issued by the National Weather Service.

Wind: Very gusty winds will be possible behind the front Friday winds sustained from 15-30 MPH with gust to 40 MPH in the valleys and higher in the mountains. Some power outages will be possible so make sure to have your devices charged and have ways to stay warm.

Snow: Snow will be possible as the cold air rushes into the region. A quick hitting heavy snow could be possible along with blowing snow which could have blizzard like conditions at times. Early indications show up to 2 inches will be possible in the valleys with up to 3 inches possible in the mountains.

Travel: Hazardous Travel will be possible on Friday. When the cold air rushes in any moisture on the road will freeze leading to the potential of ice and hazardous road conditions.
